Changing the theme of Windows 7
Windows 7 has a couple features that are nice that have been missing since Windows first began. One of the biggest gripes that I have ever had about Windows was in the ability to change the desktop and the style of windows to match your mood. Sometimes light blue just doesn't do it. I would even go so far as to work on my Linux machine just to have a change of scheme. Windows Vista offered a nicer cleaner look, but it really didn't fix the problem of needing to buy an expensive add on pack to be able to change some of the theme. Well it looks like they might have made some improvements with Windows 7.
First off, Windows 7 allows you to add multiple backgrounds and have them alternate every X number of minutes. So you can select a large group of photos or images for your background and have them rotate. To do this right click on your desktop and select the "Personalize" option. This will give you a screen that will allow you to control much of how Windows 7 looks.
It works much like all of the other window versions except you get to select multiple images and run them in a slide show. You can also change the Windows Colors which is more advanced than it has been in the past. Sounds and Wallpapers work much the same. When you select Desktop Background you are able to add multiple images and select which ones you would like to run in a slide show. You can also determine the length of time that you would like each image to remain on the desktop. And there is a nice little Random feature for helping you rotate the images and keep it fresh.
It might not seem like a major change, but it does make using the computer a little bit nicer. With some of the other changes like how icons pinned to the taskbar work more efficiently when multi-tasking, Windows 7 seems to have an overall nice structure to it. Keep in mind that I am used to using Vista which I liked very much and Windows 7 does not seem much different than Vista. Have fun changing up your themes!
